Privacy Policy

1. Core Philosophy: Your Data Stays Yours

Chortke is built with privacy-first architecture. Your financial data never leaves your device. We don't have servers storing your information because we've designed the app to work entirely locally.

2. How Chortke Works

When you import a bank statement PDF:

• The PDF is processed entirely on your device
• Extracted data is stored in encrypted local storage
• The original PDF is deleted immediately after processing
• No statement data is transmitted anywhere

3. Optional Statement Sharing (Opt-in Only)

If you choose to share a bank statement to help us improve bank support:

• This is completely voluntary and opt-in
• You explicitly choose which statement to share
• The statement is sent via your device's email app
• We use shared statements solely to create parsing templates for that bank
• Shared statements are deleted from our systems within 14 days
• You can request immediate deletion at kasabeh.tech/chortke/delete
• No financial data from shared statements is stored permanently

We will never:

• Automatically share your statements without explicit consent
• Use shared statements for any purpose other than improving bank support
• Share your statements with third parties

4. No Account Required

Chortke works without:

• User accounts or registration
• Email addresses or passwords
• Phone numbers or personal identifiers
• Third-party authentication

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

We never collect, store, or have access to:

• Your transactions or financial data (unless you explicitly share a statement)
• Bank account numbers or balances
• Bank login credentials
• Personal identification information
• Your encryption keys
• The contents of your imported statements (processed locally)

6. Optional Analytics (Opt-in Only)

If you choose to enable "Share Anonymous Analytics" in Settings, we collect:

• Feature usage patterns (which screens you visit)
• App performance metrics
• Crash reports (without personal data)

Analytics never include:

• Your financial data or transactions
• Bank names or account information
• Any personally identifiable information

You can disable analytics at any time in Settings. Analytics are OFF by default.

7. Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. We receive:

• Confirmation of active subscription status
• No payment details or billing information

8. Third-Party Services

• Apple (StoreKit): Processes subscriptions
• Apple Mail/Share Sheet: Used for optional statement sharing (data goes directly to our email)
• TelemetryDeck: Anonymous analytics (opt-in only)

We do not use Plaid, bank aggregators, or any service that accesses your bank credentials.

9. Data Security

• All local data encrypted via iOS Data Protection
• Encryption keys stored in iOS Keychain/Secure Enclave
• Optional biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID)
• Data excluded from iCloud backup by default

10. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data exists only on your device. To delete it:

• Use "Delete All Data" in Settings, or
• Delete the app from your device

We cannot delete your local data because we don't have it.

For voluntarily shared statements:

• Automatically deleted within 14 days
• Request immediate deletion at kasabeh.tech/chortke/delete

11. Children's Privacy

Chortke does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require personal information to function.

12. International Users

Your data stays on your device regardless of your location. No data is transferred internationally because no data leaves your device (except when you explicitly choose to share a statement).

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect app changes. Significant changes will be communicated via app update notes.

14. Your Rights (GDPR/CCPA)

Because we don't collect personal data by default:

• There is no data to access, correct, or delete from our systems
• Your financial data is already under your complete control
• You can export or delete your data at any time within the app
• If you shared a statement, you can request deletion at kasabeh.tech/chortke/delete
